Background to the Role
The Knowsley Golden Thread Heritage project builds on the successful delivery of One Knowsley’s two-year Knowsley Heritage Grant pilot project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and completed in September 2023.
Heritage is the ‘golden thread’ that runs through all aspects of Knowsley communities, evidenced by the diverse range of Knowsley Heritage Grant funded projects ranging from Natural Heritage to Community Archaeology.
The Knowsley Golden Thread Heritage project will further engage and inspire the Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise Sector (VCFSE) in Knowsley to identify, explore and engage with their locally relevant heritage.
Our Communities Of Practice (COP) and VCFSE led approach, we will enable and facilitate access to heritage, supported by a Heritage Network providing a knowledge pool of expertise, sector experience and guidance, as well as drawing on experiences and skills of those who have benefited from the Knowsley Heritage Grant programme to encourage and support others in the community, many who may not have engaged with heritage before, to take that first step. A participatory budget will enable COP’s to with our support engage with Heritage to develop and deliver community led heritage projects.
Learning from the Knowsley Heritage Grant project has provided us with a roadmap to successful engagement of Knowsley communities based on a principle of holistic problem solving, cultural sensitivity, networking, collaboration and skills development, which embeds understanding driving empowerment and agency. We aim to engage a broader range of ages, ethnicities and social backgrounds, more disabled people, including groups who have never engaged with your heritage before.
Purpose of the Role
Working closely with the Heritage Engagement Manager, you will provide ongoing support and development of the VCFSE in the borough, building and supporting relationships across the sector, championing collaboration, and providing project support within the Knowsley Golden Thread Heritage Programme and to the VCFSE communities of practice for heritage to enable collaborative and resilient community led heritage project activity.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- To provide support to the programme delivery within project management principles
- To support the Knowsley Golden Thread Heritage programme, data monitoring and regular reporting including impact reporting
- Scheduling of tasks, organising meetings and events
- Support the facilitation of Communities of Practice
- Support the development of strong networks and partnerships in support of the programmes aims and objectives.
- Be an ambassador for the programme, promoting opportunities and delivering key messages whilst maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
