With your help, we’ve recruited 100 Community Champions, as the programme continues to benefit businesses and communities in the borough of Knowsley
Since it was launched earlier this year, the Community Programme has helped the borough of Knowsley in so many ways, not just in terms of addressing practical barriers to promote wellbeing, access & inclusion in Knowsley, but also shining a spotlight on the incredible community spirit we have whilst increasing our communities approaches to increasing health and well-being”.
Working in partnership with Knowsley Council, One Knowsley has acted as a trusted and respected voice in Kirkby, Prescot, Huyton, Whiston, Halewood, Cronton and Stockbridge Village throughout the pandemic, but has also provided training and education for some of the Liverpool City Region’s most poorly resourced communities.
With 109 Community Champions already on-board, One Knowsley and its volunteers are currently working with nearly 30 different local groups including Evolving Mindset, Beautiful New Beginnings, 12 Million Minds and YARS, with volunteers continuing to provide clear and accessible information regarding the importance and benefits of up to date health information & services.
One Knowsley has just closed its Community Champions Small Grants programme, where we encouraged applications especially from the wards of Page Moss, Prescot South, Whiston & Cronton, St Michaels and Swanside.
The programme will soon announce if it will continue to provide community and voluntary organisations operating in Knowsley an opportunity to apply for small grants to deliver projects and create initiatives to tackle health inequality. Groups may be able to apply for up to a maximum of £5,000, this may be a one-off grant or several grants.
Community Champions Projects
Last month, in the first round of the programme, we awarded 13 community groups and organisations with funding for their projects to promote wellbeing, access & inclusion in Knowsley.

Training
As can be seen in the picture above, our Volunteer Community Champions and Grant recipients are being asked to undertake a training programme with the aim of equippin them with valuable skills to empower Knowsley communities to have a voice, so that their voice is heard, which helps shape stronger, safer and more informed communities.
Our Community Champion training sessions are in full swing! Take a look at some of our Champions who have been getting stuck into their training this week 🤝
